I started with Quicken in the early 90’s and moved to Money in the late 90’s. I was a little apprehensive about using Quicken after learning Money was discontinued, but I have really been favorably impressed after a month of ownership.
Rather than convert my historical Money file I opted to do a fresh implementation with data starting as of 1/1/09. I was able import the 11 months of 2009 data from my major banks, but I am not sure that will work with all banks. Thus an easier approach would be to just start the first of some month. I am really impressed with the ease of updating bank information with one click. For my bank accounts this is superior to Money. The whole interface and cleanness of the Quicken program is really great.
I did opt to track my investment data on Excel, so I am not sure how this would work in Quicken.
I would have rated it 5 stars except the QIF data import is missing and the Money file conversion from what I have read is problematic. Thus it got 4 stars from me, but at $33 it is a bargain considering all it does.

After using Microsoft Money for over ten years I was disappointed and lost once that discontinued there product. I was very weary of what product I should try next. I have used Quicken now for about 6 weeks and actual wish I had been using this product all along. Took a few days to get the feel, but was overall very user friendly. Initial set up took about 4 hours, but seems to be the majority of the work. I can connect to financial companies that I had never been able to with Microsoft Money. I have recommended this product now to three family members that are also impressed.

I am a long-time Quicken user. I had been using Quicken 2008 Home & Business and wanted to upgrade to Quicken 2010 Deluxe. The new features aren’t mind blowing but the cleaner interface and minor tweaks were enough. I also don’t like to get more than two versions behind.
I went with the download version simply because it was cheaper and I could install it faster. The download went great and the install went fine. My old version of Quicken 2008 was automatically uninstalled and then Quicken 2010 was installed. The only glitch was when it came time to open and convert my Quicken data file. For some reason it grabbed an older version so I had to hunt for the latest data file and when I thought I had found it, opened/converted it. Still had old data. Fortunately I had been smart to do an automatic backup of my current data file before upgrading. EVERYONE SHOULD DO THIS! I simply restored/converted the backup file and all was well.
I’m just starting to use Quicken 2010 but from what I can see it is all that it advertises to be. No problems. I am very happy I upgraded.

I purchased Q 2010 to upgrade my current version Q 08 on a WIN 64 bit OS. Data migration did not go well. In looking over the Intuit website I found there are a number of issues with Q 10. Intuit has issued some patches, but a major patch should be out in Jan 10 to resolve numerous issues including the data migration issue I experienced. Amazon has been terrific in rectifying my purchase of a product I can’t use at the moment.

After replacing my aging XP machine with a shiny new Windows 7 (64-bit) machine, I found that my Quicken 2009 Deluxe would no longer print properly on my network HP Laserjet, though it worked just fine running on the old XP machine. Every other program I have prints just fine with Windows 7, including non-MS stuff like Sun OpenOffice, Firefox, Sun Virtualbox, etc. So after 2 full days of troubleshooting, without success, I bought Quicken 2010 Deluxe, assuming (!) that the newer version would work properly: WRONG!
Two more days of troubleshooting, with tech support from Intuit, HP and Microsoft, usergroups, and still no joy. There seems to be an incompatibility between Quicken and 64-bit environments, and HP printers. There’s a lot of finger-pointing but no real solution, at least at this point in time. Since every other program works fine, I have to assume the problem lies within Quicken. For the current state, see this link:

I have been a Quicken user for over 20 years, and I’ve been generally happy with it, even as it has evolved from a neat, concise program into bloatware, but this is intolerable.
Now I’m going to have to keep my old XP box around to do my finances until either Intuit fixes it (don’t hold your breath!) OR I find a different finance program: my next option to explore.
